Poodles come in three different sizes, Toy - the smallest - generally under 10 pounds; Miniature - the middle size - generally 12-20 pounds; and Standard - the largest - generally more than 30 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds. People will sometimes ask about “Teacup” Toys or “Royal” Standards. These are terms employed by dog producers to sell their dogs and are best avoided. Those tiny dogs have tiny brains, tiny hearts, tiny livers…And owing to excess weight, the giant dogs’ need to be watched for hip and joint problems which are typically not a problem in our breed.
